Eddie Redmayne, Alex Sharp, Sacha Baron Cohen | In Chicago in 1968, a Democratic Party rally met with protests by activists such as Tom Hayden’s Democrat Students and Yippie activists led by Abbie Hoffman and Jerry Rubin, which sparked fierce clashes with local governments. As a result, seven suspected detectives are being prosecuted for conspiracy by the Nixon regime, including Bobby Seale of the Black Panthers who was not involved in the incident. What follows is an unfair trial led by a prominent (unrelated) Judge Hoffman, followed by a reluctant but imprisoned Richard Schultz. While their pro bono lawyers are facing similar challenges, Hayden and his colleagues are frustrated by the Yippies ’embarrassing antics that undermine their defense by disregarding the system, though Seale has a chance to defend himself in his own way. Along the way, Chicago 7s clash in their political philosophies even as they learn they need each other in this war.
