Free software to view AutoCADAutodesk DWG files TrueView is a free multimedia software that allows users to view AutoCAD and other DWG files. Since DWG TrueView is a viewer only, you can not use it to edit a drawing. However, you can measure and print your drawings and convert DWG files between AutoCAD formats. Is it especially useful for architects, engineers and free DWG TrueView constructions? The Autodesk DWG TrueView app is a free standalone DWG viewer. It is built on the same platform as AutoCAD, a software application of computer-aided drawing (CAD). With DWG TrueView you can see the latest DWG, DWF and DXF file formats, just like in AutoCAD, but without paying a license (function () {(‘review-app-page-desktop’);}) ; DWG TrueView is a Windows-only application and is not available for Mac operating systems. There are several versions of the DWG TrueView product since 2007. DWG TrueView 2019, 2018 and 2017 are available in 64-bit and 32-bit. Autodesk DWG Trueview 2020 is only available in 64-bit. System requirements for the latest version include Windows 10 Anniversary Update (version 1803 or higher), Windows with update KB2919355 and Windows 7 SP1. Downloading Autodesk DWG Trueview for Windows could not be easier. Download and run the .exe and follow the on-screen instructions to extract the installation files, which will take a few minutes. After extracting the files, go to the actual installation (after accepting Autodesk license and service agreement). The installation took about five minutes. The installation instructions for this version are in English only, although other versions are available. Once the installation is complete, you can click Finish – the program will not open automatically. What is DWG TrueView used for? DWG is a file extension used to draw programs such as computer-aided design (CAD) software. DWG TrueView is intended primarily for professionals who receive DWG or DXF drawing information from AutoCAD but do not need to edit or prepare the drawings. Architects, engineers and construction workers are likely to find this a useful program. TrueView can be configured to open DWG and other supported files automatically. Alternatively, it is very easy to open files in the user interface. After opening a file, a toolbar appears at the top of the interface that divides the tools into different functions. Tools are grouped on several tabs, including basic navigation for panning, zooming in and turning your drawing. As you move over the icons, extensive tooltips appear that provide a very broad orientation. It is convenient for new users. Users also have options to customize the user interface using the tools on the User Interface tab. This includes displaying tiles horizontally or vertically as well as waterfall. You can also choose how you want the tabs to appear in the menu next to Home. Alternatives to Autodesk DWG Trueview include DWG viewers, AutoCAD Drawing Viewer, DWGFastview and Draftsight, all very easy to use. With DWG DXF Converter, users can convert DWG files to DXF. A set of tools for non-editing In a broad sense, all the features that are not associated with AutoCAD are available in DWG TrueView. This includes DWG Convert, which enables usersto create older DWG versions (such as AutoCAD 2000, 2004, etc.) from the current file. Icons on the Output tab are related to the plot, such as the plot icon that you can use to print on paper. The batch plot icon is useful for publishing a drawing or group of drawings in DWF, DWFx or PDF formats. It can also be used to draw a collection of drawings. On the View tab, you can choose a visual style, such as 2D wireframe or 3D conceptual, while AutoCAD layer editing is available on the layer sheet. A particularly useful tool in DWG TrueView is the measurement tool that allows users to measure and view any dimension of the open drawing. Object Snap drawing tools can be used to measure your drawing more accurately. With these tools you can click on a specific object location when selecting a point. Finally, the output function can be found in the application menu and it is useful to export DWG or DFX files to DWF, DWFx and PDF output files. Limited Edition Functionality Of course, Autodesk DWG TrueView is limited in functionality. Anyone looking for more editing tools should consider using AutoCAD. It has industry-leading resources and libraries that meet the needs of many professionals. With AutoCAD you can create floor plans, sections, walls, windows, doors and other layouts. It’s not as easy to use as Autodesk DWG Trueview, but it contains extensive help menus containing information about its tools and features. However, utilizing the features of the software is very expensive, and licenses cost thousands of dollars per year. Additional Useful Enhancements You can enhance the features of DWG TrueView by adding Design Review, another Autodesk product. This add-on extends the DWG Viewer feature set so you can mark, mark, print and follow free changes to 2D and 3D files. This is especially useful in a collaborative environment, as it allows you to add comments, information and other files. As an alternative to DWG TrueView, Autodesk Viewer allows you to easily view and share designs in your browser instead of downloading software. Use it to explore designs, take screenshots of presentations, and measure components. Files viewed in Autodesk Viewer can be shared via URL, so this is useful if you are working with someone who has not installed Autodesk applications on their free DWG viewer. Purchasing individual licenses for complete CAD software can quickly become prohibitively expensive. Autodesk DWG Trueview provides a useful solution for those who can only view, convert, and export DWG files and do not require design features. Although the program is easy to use for non-professionals, DWG TrueView will inevitably attract more architects, creations, engineers and designers.
