The upcoming film follows Teresa (Brbara Colen), who returns to her home in Bacurau, a Brazilian semi-arid desert village, to attend her grandmother’s funeral. Upon arrival, Teresa immediately notices signs that Bacurau is in trouble. There is a shortage of basic equipment, the range of mobile phones is shrinking, the drinking water supply is blocked and the truck supplying the water arrives full of bullets. It soon becomes clear that the corrupt government has completely abandoned the village: not only has Bacurau literally been removed from the map, but its citizens are also being attacked. As the official approaches, residents must prepare for organized resistance to prevent further damage.
